My daughter loved growing out Lil Musheep. She is 9 and recently got into mushrooms. This was the perfect way to grow fresh lion's mane at home for her to try. The humidity tent helped keep it clean between sprays. We will be purchasing Betty the Yeti and a blue oyster mushroom grow kit next.

I've tried a lot of different grow kit brands over the years as a hobby cultivator. Mushroom Grow Kit Co. is hands down the best so far. Their quality is top notch with thick, meaty oyster mushrooms. I think part of this is because their mycelium is only a few weeks old so it has more nutrients available. It's also a 5 pound block which leads to bigger yields. Here's my breakdown of mushroom grow kit brands:

5 stars - Mushroom Grow Kit Co. (over 3 lbs of fresh mushrooms, large meaty texture. 3+ flushes, no need to soak block in water before using, mycelium bag is 5lbs)

4 stars - North Spore (1 - 2 lbs of fresh mushrooms, substrate is drier and requires soaking in water before use, mycelium is 3+ months old, 2 flushes if lucky, imo 70+ employees can lead to quality control issues, mycelium bag is only 4lbs)

3-4 stars - Golden Mushroom Co (1 - 1.5lbs of fresh mushrooms, cannot easily side fruit, 1 flush only, mycelium bag is 3lbs)

2 stars - Back to the Roots ( 1/2 lbs of fresh mushrooms or less, mycelium block is severely dehydrated and 3-6 months old, requires soaking in water to use, 1 flush only, not a commercial mushroom farm, mycelium bag is 1lbs or less)

Very easy to grow. We made vegan crab cakes out of the lion's mane mushrooms. We got 3 pounds out of 2 flushes so far. Will buy again!

We cook a lot with mushrooms as the main source of protein in our diet. It’s hard to find fresh lion’s mane near us or good quality oyster mushrooms. These mushroom grow kits have been a life saver! It’s amazing to have fresh mushrooms right at home. My wife also thinks the boxes look nice on our kitchen counter which is why we haven’t switched to the fruiting bags option even though they are $5 less.

Bigger, better mushrooms. There was no need to rehydrate the mushroom mycelium as it was only 3 weeks old. We got over 2.5 pounds of fresh lion's mane on the first harvest. My dad recently got into mycology. These mushroom grow kits were the perfect last minute gift to send him in Portland.

The pink oyster mushrooms are so vibrant when they first start popping out, I love the contrast against the wood background.

All 3 blocks arrived in good shape and had strong yields for each flush. The 1st harvest was over 2 lbs.

It was incredibly easy to use straight out of the box, I just cut a X in the bag, misted as instructed, and watched the lion's mane grow. This was my first time growing mushrooms. I had heard a lot about the benefits of lion's mane and wanted to try it for myself.

We grew mushrooms in our laundry room no problem. It took a few days of spraying before the mushrooms started to show.

It's been hard to find gold oyster mushroom fruiting blocks since North Spore discontinued them. Gold oysters are a big seller and attract attention to our farmer's market booth. We gave Mushroom Grow Kit Co. a shot and have decided to switch all of our other fruiting blocks like pink, blue, and lion's mane to them.
