Instructions - How to use your mushroom grow kit!

  1. Open the front flap of your kit and cut along the dotted lines. Close the box.
  2. Slice an 'X' into the plastic underneath with a sharp knife.
  3. Fill a spray bottle with water and spray where you sliced your 'X' at least twice a day - more if you live in a  dry climate. You should give your kit 8-10 sprays each time you mist it. (If mushrooms start to grow but dry up and die, your growing conditions are too dry & you should make a humidity tent.)
  4. Place your grow kit in a warm, humid part of your home and out of direct sunlight. It takes 5-14 days for 'pins' or 'baby mushrooms' to form.
  5. Harvest 4-5 days after pin formation. Did you know mushrooms can double in size every 24 hours once they start fruiting?

How to Make a Humidity Tent

If you live in a dry or climate, it's a good idea to cover your kit with a humidity tent to help keep moisture levels higher.

  1. Take a trash bag or other large loose bag and cut plenty of ½ inch holes throughout it. THIS IS IMPORTANT: Mushrooms breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2 just like we do. They will suffocate and abort if there is not enough airflow.
  2. Gently place the bag over your block and mist the inside of the bag every day. When you start to see baby mushrooms form (pinning), you can remove the bag and keep misting the block.

Pro Tip: You can also use a clear plastic tote with holes cut in it instead of a plastic bag. This is a great option if you are going to be ordering recurring mushroom grow kits in the future.

Storage

We recommend using your mushroom grow kit upon arrival for best results. If you're not ready to use your mushroom growing kit immediately, it can be stored in a cool dry place, out of direct sunlight, for up to 6 months. Keep in mind that mushroom mycelium is alive!

Lion's Mane, Blue Oyster, Golden Oyster, and Gray Oyster mushroom grow kits can be refrigerated for up to 6 months (preferred storage method if possible).

PINK OYSTER MUSHROOMS: DO NOT refrigerate pink oyster mushroom grow kits. They can be stored in a cool dry place, out of direct sunlight, for up to 6 months.
